New Church Today!

[slideshow]

We went to a new church this morning. Well, it was more like a well-oiled machine. A megachurch some have called it. It's called McGregor Baptist Church. We got there around 10:50 (services start at 11). Usually, that's plenty of time to get your child to the kids' area and make it to the service in time. Not here. No sir-ee. We finally sat down in our seats in "Studio G" (where the contemporary service meets) at 11:15. My only complaint the entire day was that at a church THAT huge, there were very little signs directing new guests where to go. We asked a couple that was leaving an earlier service, and they were kind enough to walk us to our destination. When we went to drop Cayman off in his "dolphin" room (the kids' area has a "Discovery Cove" theme....very cute!) he walked right in like he'd been going there his entire life and walked right to a kitchen play area. We didn't leave Charis in the kids' area because of her fever. So she went into the service with us...and pretty soon, everyone knew she was there. Ok. Maybe not everyone in the auditorium, but the people sitting around us definitely heard her! No. She actually did fine for the first part of the sermon. But towards the end, she started getting sleepy and wouldn't go to sleep. We still have a couple of more churches we've been told to visit, so we won't make a decision yet. But I think we both really enjoyed the service today...just not all the walking! :)

After supper tonight, we went to Gail and Jim's to return their crockpot...or at least, that's the excuse I used in order to get over there and see them! I know I've said it before, but I love seeing them because it's just like going over to the grandparents' house. That's how they always treat us and the kids whenever we go see them. Gail talked to Cayman the whole night about what all he saw yesterday at the airshow. She acted like she knew exactly what he was talking about the entire time. (He's actually getting really good with his words now, but sometimes we all could use a Caymanese interpreter.) One of the best signs that you feel comfortable at someone's house: you can walk to their fridge, open it up and grab a canned drink out of the door! It's great, and we're so thankful to have family down here with us! We can't wait to spend Thanksgiving with them, my parents, and my brother (Jason), his wife, Allison (Gail and Jim's daughter), and their kiddos (Garrett and Harper).
