[/caption]This morning, we chose not to go to church because the kids were up at the crack of dawn (thanks to the time change) and we needed to go get some groceries. I was down to one box of pasta and a huge jar of spaghetti sauce for dinners.
I found (what looked like) a yummy recipe on the back of a pasta box. Kim and Branden were coming over for dinner tonight, so I decided to try it out. Ian hates that I do this, but it seems like every time we have company over for supper, I try out a new meal! So they got to be my guinea pigs tonight. Thankfully, it turned out to be pretty yummy...with a little bit of extra salt and pepper! :) We enjoyed our evening with Branden and Kim - I'm so glad they made the drive out to see us! Kim, Charis and I went to Target before supper to do a little Christmas shopping and to just get out for a girls' day!
Cayman was so sad tonight when our guests left tonight. I think the fact that Daddy left with them (to go bowling) just sent him over the edge. So I suggested he get to do something special. He got to take a bath in mommy and daddy's HUGE tub! He kept saying, "Mama, I swimming!" Oh. Yes. Sometime else about Cayman. He has started growling. He does it fairly often. Sometimes it's funny. Like when we're in the grocery store and an older lady comments on how cute Cayman is..."ROOOOAAARRR!" I say, "Please excuse him. He's pretending to be a lion today." Other times, however, he does it when he's told to stop doing something, or that's not allowed...basically when he's getting in trouble. When done at that time, it sounds extremely rude. Here was a conversation from our evening.
Ian: "Cayman, we don't hit people with that sword."
Cayman: "ROOOOAAARRR!"
Ian: *Pops Cayman's hand.* "Cayman, you are not allowed to roar at daddy!"
I laughed silently in the kitchen. :)
I've been a little concerned about Christmas this year. Mainly because it's going to be so totally different for us. We have no decorations. We're going light on the gifts. We won't see our family. It will be fun, because we'll make it fun, but it will just be different. Thankfully, my mom helped me come up with some awesome ideas tonight while we were talking about it on the phone. I want to start decorating, like, tomorrow! Ok, maybe not tomorrow. But we will be exchanging gifts with our niece and nephew at Thanksgiving when they're down here, so maybe we'll get them and their parents to help us decorate some. And my parents will be here at the same time, so they can help come up with some good ideas too!
Do you have any good ideas for helping the Moody's celebrate Christmas this year given our current situation? Leave me a comment if you do!
