My hubby and I got to spend some quality time together today thanks to my sweet mama! We left around 12:30 and finally got home at 5:45! It was fantastic! We went to a craft store to buy a basket to put together some goodies for a customer at his store. Then we drove to Port Charlotte to pick up some stuff from his old store. We were greeted with hugs and warm hellos from Ian's old employees. We stayed there for a long time and talked with some of them. We met the new IM's family - his family was at the store visiting him, so we finally got to meet them. Amie (Seth's wife) and I have been emailing one another since they found out Seth was taking Ian's place. So it was great to finally put a face with a name!

We walked around the (very crowded) mall for a little while, shopped in Old Navy for a while. We decided to get some of our Christmas gifts...mainly some light-weight long-sleeved shirts for the mild Florida winter (it's still 80 degrees almost everyday...although tonight, the temperature dropped a little bit).

After Old Navy, we drove back to Cape Coral and headed to Kohl's, where my sweet hubby picked out outfits for me to try on. (What other man would do that?! He's so great.) Then he waited patiently as I tried on his outfits, and he chose his favorite ones. I will have to avoid the infant girl's section at Kohl's. Thankfully I had the will power to refuse to put any of their clothes in our basket...I may not be as strong in the future though! I did realize today though that while Cayman has already gotten quite a few Christmas gifts, we haven't bought anything for Charis. Well, I take that back - she got a few shirts and a pair of jeans from the consignment shop. I do know one thing I will be buying her for Christmas...a ball of yarn! You think I'm joking! The past couple of times we've been to Gail and Jim's house, Charis has been mesmerized by Gail's ball of yarn...she sits on the floor playing with it for 30 minutes at a time!

Cayman always seems to remind me of my Father's love for me. Tonight as we got home, I remembered one other time when Ian and I were getting home from a date. I went in first, kind of as a joke, because Cayman always seems more excited to see Daddy than Mommy. I walked through the door, and Cayman said, "Mommy!!!" My heart skipped a beat, and I was so thrilled to hear how excited he was to see me! I bent down, stretched out my arms to receive a hug, but almost immediately, he saw Ian walking in right behind me, and he ran right past me into Ian's arms. My excitement quickly turned to a bit of jealousy as I watched Cayman and Ian embrace. The next day I was replaying the events in my mind. It was almost as if the Lord gently told me that I happened to do that to Him fairly often. I get excited during a worship service to see a glimpse of the Lord, I run towards Him, but almost immediately something else will grab my attention, and I will run right past Him into the arms of something/someone else! How I wish that my love for the Lord was so strong and pure that I never bypassed His waiting arms!
