Not Our Typical Sunday

We enjoyed a fantastic morning at church to start off our day! I highly recommend checking out our pastor's sermon about starting off your new year on the right foot. (I'm not sure how quickly the sermon will be posted; it's not on there quite yet.) The sermon really hit home for Ian and me because we were reminded that our vision of owning a Chick-fil-A is definitely a possibility for this upcoming year, and that it is definitely wise for us to make plans to attain that goal but ultimately God is the one that has already laid out each step in that plan. (The pastor definitely words that a lot better! Haha!)

Following the church service and a quick bite to eat, Mama headed off to the grocery store...ALONE. And it was a magnificent, peaceful time. I was able to take a drink with me in the cart because "Grabby McGee" wasn't sitting in the seat trying to grab the straw the whole time, nor was "The Beggar" there dying of thirst and in dire need of a gulp of Mama's drink! I walked, quietly, up and down every aisle (twice if I truly felt the need), examined produce, checked prices, heck, I could have even stopped at all three sample booths if I wanted to because I was ALL ALONE. Did I mention how peaceful my shopping trip was?! All thanks to my sweet hubs... :)

Soon after I got home from the store, we left to go to our Florida grandparents' house (Gail and Jim -- my SIL's parents) for the most delicious dinner! But before dinner, they gave us Christmas presents! They are so sweet. Cayman got a truck that he played with, literally, the entire time. (He liked it so much that we had to make a trip to Target after we left their house to buy Cayman another truck and playset like the one they gave him...pictures to follow tomorrow of him playing with it...because I know he'll be playing with it all day!) But dinner. Oh. My. Goodness. I can't wait to get the recipes from Mrs. Gail to share them with you. They roasted a Boston pork butt (I think that's what it's called?!?!?!), and it was out of this world amazing. So delicious. And then for dessert, she made a cinnamon bread pudding. My mouth is watering again just thinking about it. And get this. She made it in the microwave (for the most part). And the cinnamon bread part is from one of those Pepperidge Farm cinnamon bread loaves, broken up into tiny pieces. Mmm. And then she served it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Hello dessert heaven! We had a great evening - we loved spending time with them. :)

While at Target, I decided to just break down and buy Cayman his very own potty. To my utter relief, I had quite a difficult time getting him off the throne when it was time for bed this evening! He was super excited to sit on his frog potty for 20 minutes, at least. He HATES sitting on the porcelain throne, so I was excited to see how much he enjoyed his own little potty. Tomorrow's project will be getting even more acquainted with the frog and introducing a special M&M jar in the bathroom. I will work on something creative during naptime tomorrow...

But, the REAL caption is, "Mommy, do you see my poop poop?" "No Cayman, there's nothing there. Sit back down and try again...""][/caption]

And finally. During Charis' last bottle this evening, I decided to just check out her gums, and sure enough there's a bit of a tooth popping on through! You still can't see anything, but I can definitely feel the two sharp points on either side of the tooth. Hello explanation of NYE's high fever/runny nose! Lord have mercy - how many more teeth do we have to go through?!?!
