After church, we came home to eat lunch. It cooked while we were at church. (Why is it that the wife of the "Chicken Man" is HORRIBLE at cooking chicken?! If only I had a pressure cooker in my kitchen, I could make my chicken as good as Chick-fil-A does.) As soon as we finished lunch, we skipped nap time and headed to a special little girl's birthday party! Sarah (her mom is Tricia - we met Tricia and her sweet family as soon as we moved her - they are doing as well as can be expected since the passing of Corey) turned 8, and Tricia invited us to Sarah's party. We were a little late since we had to make sure the kids were fed, and then we had a 40 minute drive on top of it. She made Sarah wait to open her presents because there was still "someone else" on their way to the party. We felt like superstars when we drove up! Tricia came running outside, greeting us with hugs and kisses. And then when we got inside, the girls were THRILLED to see us...especially Cayman! And poor Cayman was a little overwhelmed, and it took him about 20 minutes to warm up to everyone. I absolutely love those sweet girls (all 4 of them - Tricia, Karissa, Emma, and Sarah), and I hate that we haven't gotten to spend more time with them. We were warned ahead of time that Ian needed to bring a change of clothes with him, so we suspected something messy! They had a massive water balloon fight - Cayman was right there in the middle of it all...for a few minutes...until everything started getting a little wild. He must have had an I'm-about-to-scream look on his face because Tricia scooped him up one time and ran around with him throwing balloons at people. Cayman laughed when they got to hit daddy with a balloon! After the balloons were all gone, they did an egg toss game (which of course got a bit messy), and the party ended with Tricia smearing icing on some of their friends from church. She's crazy! :) We had so much fun and hopefully they will be coming over later this week - maybe when Ian's out of town for an overnight trip. We'll see!
Unfortunately I left my camera at home today, and I forgot to take a picture! So here's the picture you get from our day.....
Seriously?
ReplyDeleteSo the truth comes out. You don't just want pictures. You want specific pictures. Only ones of Cayman and Charis. I understand. You don't want to see your only, beloved daughter. I see, Mom. Thanks a lot.
ReplyDeleteUmmmmm...what in the world is Ian holding? I'm thinking it's a green popsicle, but this is very strange, and I'm confused. ;)
