I am to the point that things are a little blurry and I feel a little shaky because of how sleepy I am!
Being tired definitely does not supersede the joy I experienced tonight though!
We are in Raleigh. We left our house in Port Charlotte at 12, drove to Gail and Jim’s house, picked them up so they could ride to the airport with us (and take our van back home), then started our trip! We left the Fort Myers airport at 3:10, we made it through security with 4 bags, 3 pairs of shoes, two adults, two kids, one laptop, one DVD player, two cell phones, one camera, and one Boo. They had to search through one of our bags because we forgot to take Cayman’s sippy cup out of the bag. So they had to check it for explosive materials. We made it to our gate with about 20 minutes to spare -- the perfect amount of time for a toddler to get some energy out before being confined in a tight space. Thankfully on our long plane ride (about 1.5 hours) Charis and I had a row to ourselves, and Ian and Cayman had a row to themselves. On our flight from Charlotte to Raleigh, the plane was PACKED. So Ian held Charis in his lap for the trip in between a man and Cayman in my lap! It was cramped and a LONG 50 minutes!!!
Cayman was a real trooper. Since we left at 12, he totally missed his nap. He was exhausted, and he even had to walk through the airports! He had a few tiny meltdowns, but all in all, I really can’t complain. He did great considering all the circumstances.
Our other best friend Brandon picked us up at the airport in Raleigh tonight. It was soo wonderful to see a familiar face!! We drove straight to Kyle and Jennifer’s house. Stacy and Cooper were already there with Kyle, Jenn, and Sadie. Stacy knew we were coming but the Roberts had NO idea. Ian hid in the bushes beside their front porch videotaping Cayman going up and knocking on the door. Cayman was so exhausted that he didn’t even want to knock on the door. So I had to run up the stairs, knock on the door, then run back to my hiding spot. Kyle finally came to the door, looked down with a shocked expression at Cayman, and then he said, “Are you kidding me?! You’re serious? Hey buddy!” From upstairs, I could hear Jennifer say, “Is it who I think it is?!” Then Kyle picked Cayman up and gave him a huge hug with tears running down his face! Jennifer was upstairs nursing Sadie crying because she was so excited to hear us downstairs! It was fantastic. The best surprise we’ve pulled off in quite some time! What a special and great reunion!! The look on Kyle’s face, finally getting to hold Sadie, seeing Cooper and Charis talking to each other and giggling with each other....the entire evening was so worth our tiring day!! I LOVE our sweet friends!
Now I’m looking forward to Nate and Megan’s nice comfy bed!
Enjoy the pictures from our day!
