[/caption]Today was grocery shopping day! Hooray! (Please insert a bit of sarcasm when reading that...) I am not a HUGE fan of grocery shopping. I'd rather buy groceries than handle raw chicken all day. (Have I mentioned lately that I admire the work my husband does? Because I really don't think I could do it!) However. Grocery shopping today was actually fun...mainly because I have a sweet couple of kids! Cayman behaved so well today at Walmart. He chatted with fellow Walmart-ians (one couple received Cayman's friendly "HEY!" on more than one occasion because we kept passing each other on the aisles), he enjoyed eating goldfish and his special treat, he got scared by the decorative scarecrow in the meat department (not once, but twice!), and he made me laugh on more than one occasion. I figured out another one of his phrases. When we passed the scarecrow the first time, he put his hand to his chest and said, "Mama, dat skeered me." It took me a couple of times to figure out what he was saying, and once I did, I was amazed! I had no idea he knew that emotion/feeling. He just continues to amaze me with what he's picking up!
And sweet Charis. Even though we had to go shopping right in the middle of her usual morning nap time, she just laid in her car seat, watching her brother and other Walmart-ians, playing with her toys, and smiling at her mommy. She is such a good baby. I am so blessed! She's so laid back and easy going - just goes with the flow. "Ok mommy, wanna go shopping during my nap time? Sounds good with me. I'll just nap later." "Oh mom, you want me to go back to sleep after I wake up at 6:45 to eat? Ok. I guess I could use a little more shut eye. Just wake me up when Cayman wakes up!" "Oh I'm sorry Cayman. You wanted to play with that CFA plush cow? Well just let me know when you're done with it. I'd like it back." :)
Charis tried sweet potatoes for the first time today. She loved them! So far, she's tried sweet peas, green beans, winter squash, and sweet potatoes. And Gerber Puffs. (She doesn't really know what to think about the Puffs yet - they're little sweet, dissolvable cereal-type pieces...the ones she's eating are made out of sweet potatoes. Cayman loves them. Charis - not so much.) I realized last night that Charis went an entire day without spitting up! That's the first time in a LONG time...if ever! Today she did well too...she did spit up a little bit after she ate the sweet potatoes. Which reminds me. I need to change the sheets on our bed before we go to bed tonight! I don't think Ian wants to sleep on sweet potato spit-up tonight! :)
I'm looking forward to the month of October! I think it's going to be a lot of fun with all the activities going on at the store, with the church, with the cooler weather, with new babies! I can hardly wait for Miss Sadie to arrive (Kyle and Jennifer's little girl). She has been prayed over since well before she was conceived! I can hardly wait for those two special people to finally experience parenthood! Now we're just praying for her to hurry and come out. "You're two days 'late' Sadie!" God's perfect timing, right?
What a super job! You really have artistic traits...like Daddy?
