[/caption]This morning, the kids and I braved the wild world of Walmart. I dread going there with the kids alone. I don't really know why - it's never really THAT bad. It's probably just preparing myself for the huge parking lot, pushing the cart with both kids in it all over the massive store, and persuading Cayman that he doesn't need every single item that we pass (from tampons to Halloween costumes.) And to make matters worse, today we were on the hunt for Mace's birthday gift. And he and Cayman tend to like similar toys. So everything I picked up, Cayman had to inspect and hold and play with for a few minutes before telling me he was all done. And then he'd reach for the massive keyboard on the top shelf, or the huge dinosaur from Toy Story that growls when you squeeze his belly. I think we were in the toy section for at least 25 minutes! We finally settled on a Buzz Lightyear costume and a Lightning McQueen puzzle.
Once we left Walmart, we headed to the post office to (finally) mail Sadie a gift. Sadie will be born (hopefully) in a matter of days to our best friends, Kyle and Jennifer.
We have joked about arranging Cayman and Sadie's marriage ever since we found out Kyle and Jenn were having a little girl. (Charis will be married off to Cooper, our other best friends' - Brandon and Stacy - little boy.) I had some clothes that I've been meaning to ship to Jenn for Sadie, and of course Cayman had to add a few extra gifts for his future wife, including a love note. He told me he was drawing flowers. And then he drew a duck. And 2 elephants. And a car. He was so focused on his drawing! It was adorable.Today was the first Mini Moo Hunt at the mall. Unfortunately by the time we were done with our errands, it was too close to lunch and naptime to go over to the mall to search for one. But by the time Ian got home at 5:30, 8 of the 10 cows had been found I believe. So I think it was a success! I'm curious to hear what the customers thought about it!
I think I finally figured out why thousands of people call Southwest Florida their winter home. Tonight I walked next door to ask our neighbor for a loaf pan (he gave me a 13x9 in pan instead) and was amazed at how perfect it was outside! So I hurried back inside and told the boys to put their shoes on so we could go for a walk!

[/caption]When we went outside, Ian and Cayman immediately heard and saw a remote controlled airplane flying across the lake from our apartment in a vacant lot. We decided to drive over there so we could watch the airplane! Cayman was fascinated! (So was Ian!) We all sat on the sidewalk and watched the plane flying overhead. And it was such a perfect night to do that! I look forward to many more 75 degree 0% humidity evenings!
Ian and I ended our night on a high note...freshly baked, warm, yummy banana nut bread! It was my first time ever baking homemade bread, and it turned out really good (if I do say so myself!) I got the recipe from Kraftfoods.com (of course), and I was shocked when the list of ingredients included Miracle Whip! You should try the recipe though - super simple and very delicious!

Love his haircut and Big Al loved the airplane pic!
ReplyDeleteWhile we were sitting out there watching the airplane, I thought about how much dad would enjoy that too...and how much he would have enjoyed flying it! :)
