This morning we were playing on mine and Ian's bed, and Cayman started wrapping himself up in our sheets. I said, "Cayman, what are you doing?" He said, "I wrapping!"
We went shopping for Ian's Christmas gift today, but first I dropped off something at the store for Ian and picked up some lunch for Cayman and me. Usually we eat inside, but today since I knew we needed to go to the store, I decided to just eat in the van. Cayman thought he had won the lottery! He had so much fun eating in the front seat of the van like a big boy! I was hoping that since he had a full belly, he would be a super shopper. He lasted for about 10 minutes. Once we were in the section for Ian's gift, I kept asking him which one he wanted to get for Daddy. He wanted to get him every single item he could put his chubby little hands on! I finally guided him to a good choice. ;) He also wanted to hold and touch every single toy we passed while looking for a few gifts for parties and family. Target has those displays on every aisle of the toy section that you press a button and it operates the toy inside the display. Cayman had a ball with those. "I hold it! I hold it! Press it mommy! Press it!" That's all I heard for about 30 minutes.
I tried to get him to use the potty before nap today....BIG mistake. He sat on the potty; I gave him an M&M for sitting (which I have never done before, but he's been refusing to sit on the potty recently so I rewarded him today) and I made the mistake of telling him that if he put poop in the potty, he'd get another M&M. Of course he didn't put poop in the potty, and he WAS NOT happy about it! He threw the worst fit I've seen in a LONG time. He screamed for a good 20 minutes. And I do mean scream. We leave him in his room when he starts these fits. So I left him on his bed, then went to take care of Charis because she was screaming in the living room. I nursed her, put her down, and went back in Cayman's room because he was STILL screaming! Good grief. He finally calmed down and went down for his nap.
While we were eating dinner tonight, I wanted to know which food was his favorite. So I said, "What do you like most?" He said, "Welcome to Moe's!" I never would have thought those two sentences sounded the same, but after he said that, I realized to his 2 year old ears, they probably do sound similar! But he did eat 2 helpings each of my green beans and honey-glazed carrots, and then he started begging for bites of Ian's beans when Ian was eating his dinner later on!
We went up to CFA tonight because they were having another band concert. Since Cayman had so much fun the last time, I decided to go out again. Unfortunately, we showed up just as they were finishing their last song! I misunderstood Ian when he was telling me the times. We had to circle the building looking for a parking space, and when we drove past the band, Cayman started playing his horn in the back seat! He was so excited, and then so disappointed when he realized he wasn't going to get to hear the band! Poor guy. Maybe next time!
Charis is getting very active! It took her a while to figure out how to do it consistently, but now she is rolling over all the time! She also moves all over her playmat that I got her. She scoots, somehow, inch by inch until she gets where she wants to be - which is usually at the edge of the mat so she can start tearing it apart. (It's one of those foam mats with about 12 interlocking pieces to create one large mat.) Her favorite thing to do right now is to rip the edge off and put the edge pieces in her mouth. (Now that I write this, it sounds kind of confusing, so I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow.) She still spits up some, not nearly as much as she used to, but I think it's just become a way of life for us now! Cayman even knows to tell us "Cawis spit up!" if one of us isn't in the same room as her for some reason.
We've also started her on "Your Baby Can Read" -- so far she seems to love it, just like Cayman did!
