Hooray for #80!

I just realized this is my 80th post on Wordpress. No telling how many posts total since my blogging journey began. A lot. I know that much! :)

I forgot to wish Charis a happy 8 month birthday yesterday! How horrible of me. I don't think she minded too much though. If she did, she forgave me quickly! Here's what all she's up to at her 8 month mark.

  • Charis still seems small for her age. She weighs around 15 pounds (my scale, not the doctor's.) She is long though. She can barely fit 12 month onesies (in one brand...another brand is 9 months.) She's outgrowing her 6-9 month pants, she can still wear some 6-9 month shirts, and she's definitely outgrown all 3-6 month clothes...finally... Although I still force her to wear the infant/3-6 month socks. They don't fit, but she wears them. (Don't worry, she's getting socks for Christmas!) :)

  • She still is not mobile. For the most part, I can put her down to play on the floor, and I know she will still be in the same general vicinity by the time I get back. She swirls around in a circle on her hiney to get to all the toys around her. She has just started getting up on her knees, or at least one knee. She doesn't know what to do once she's on all fours though.

  • She loves to play with pieces of string, balls of yarn, cords, or anything of that nature. Things like that absolutely captivate her!

  • She's tried all of the baby foods. She likes everything but peaches. They tend to make her spit up a bit more. She also LOVES puffs...like LOOOVES them. Would eat them all day long if I let her! I've also started giving her some foods from the table -- breads, sweet peas, green beans, carrots (she didn't like those very much...she gagged on them a few times)... She drinks one bottle a night; the rest of the time she nurses. And she has learned how to hold the bottle all by herself. Her pincer grasp is amazing - she's really great at picking foods up on her own and feeding herself.

  • Charis loves splashing in the bathtub, especially when her brother is in the tub with her! She pretty much just loves whenever her brother is nearby. Her face just lights up whenever Cayman comes close! And she giggles whenever he gives her kisses, which makes Cayman giggle too! I'm so thankful that they seem to love each other so much already!

  • She has learned how to clap. We're trying to teach her how to wave.

  • Sometimes we call her "falcon" because she lets out an extremely high-pitched loud squeal whenever she gets really unhappy about something -- which is usually when she's in a poopy diaper, hungry, or ready to go to bed.

We love our sweet baby girl, and we cannot imagine our life without her! She brings so much joy to our family! I cannot believe how quickly these 8 months have passed and how many things have changed! I would not change a thing!
