Cayman's Imagination

Ian and I have decided that our son has quite an imagination. Already. And he's not even 2.5 years old yet.

He received a wooden alligator on wheels with a string attached to it. We named him Wally. Wally the Alligator. Cayman walks Wally all over the house. Christmas day Cayman decided that Wally was hungry. So he fed him.

Ian bought a basketball yesterday so that we could go rekindle our love for the sport on the nice courts here in our neighborhood. Cayman had no idea what a basketball was used for, so I taught him today. He played basketball for a good 20 minutes. With our dirty laundry. He emptied the basket like 5 times, and then filled it up over and over. Each time he shot a dirty sock or undershirt into the laundry basket, he'd say, "I shoot basketball!"

Ian, Cayman and I were snuggling on our bed tonight after Ian got home (and showered...) (Charis was sleeping, so don't be thinking that we left her out purposefully...MOM!) Cayman found the long string that had been in a pair of Ian's basketball shorts (you know, the kind that you tie around the waist to keep someone from pants-ing you in a pickup game!), and he sat on the edge of the bed and started fishing! He and Ian have been fishing once. They went fishing in the pond in the old apartment complex we used to live in almost as soon as we moved in there...so a good 8 months ago! Other than that one time, the child has never been fishing.

He also loves to cook. He bakes pizzas and cookies (aka coasters). Then he has to put them in our refrigerator because "they too hot!" He used other toys while cooking too -- the slides from the viewfinders make excellent plates. And I eat a lot of the little animal magnets that go with this fridge magnet game...I don't know what they are half of the time, but they're very tasty.

He also enjoys putting things to sleep. For example, one day, he told me that his balloon was sleepy. "Boon needs to take a nap." And he put the balloon in Charis' room, closed the door, and said, "Boon taking a nap. Shh..." Wally takes a lot of naps as well. So do blankets. Charis' toys. Etc. Etc.

I love watching his little mind work. He continues to amaze us with the things he comes up with! I'm going to have to be quite a creative teacher, I believe, when it comes to his schooling!!
