My Christmas Secret

Ok so maybe it won't be a secret come Christmas morning... But for the time that the gifts are wrapped, here is my secret.

I hate buying gift boxes. They're not expensive; usually you can find a pack for fairly cheap. But I feel like it's such a waste of money when you've got so many cardboard boxes in your pantry! I use cereal boxes, pasta boxes, cracker boxes, tissue boxes -- any type of box, you get the picture! -- instead of gift boxes. They're easy to wrap. You're going to get rid of them anyways. Why not reutilize them before you throw them in the recycling bin? I remember the first year I did this. I didn't do it for every gift; I only used one or two boxes from the pantry. But the person who received the gift got a chuckle out of receiving a box of Fruit Loops for Christmas! (Until they realized their real gift was inside!) I actually just saw this idea on a website while searching for Christmas goodies recipes. I kind of like it better!

I'm so excited! I was actually able to "deck our halls" tonight...or our staircase at least. We found some garland and a wreath and a few other Christmas decorations in a closet downstairs a few weeks ago. I've never decorated a staircase before, but I think I did pretty well for my first time! Once Ian was feeling a little better tonight, Cayman and I left to go on a date to Target to buy one more strands of lights, a few red bows, and two more packs of the inexpensive ornaments I found at Target. I'm not quite finished yet, but when I am I will take pictures! I don't know why it's so important for me to decorate for Christmas this year. Well actually part of it is because we're having a party over here for some of the Chick-fil-A folks, and I do want it to actually seem like a Christmas party. But there's something deeper going on in my need for decorations. I just LOVE this time of year, and being able to decorate just is icing on the cake!

Poor Ian. He had to stay home from work today because he got sick last night! There is nothing worse than hearing the man you love, well, you know, getting sick in the bathroom. Poor guy. He was so miserable all day. But thankfully once he woke up from his 7th nap of the day this afternoon around 5, he was feeling better, headache and nausea were gone, and now tonight, he's joking around and begging for his feet to be rubbed. He's back to normal! :) There's a stomach bug going around CFA. I prayed all night long that the rest of us wouldn't come down with it, and that maybe Ian had a case of food poisoning instead! Cayman with a stomach bug is HORRIBLE...miserable for everyone because the poor guy doesn't know how to throw up in the toilet!

So far, she enjoys dumplings (from Chicken and Dumplings), sweet peas, biscuits, green beans, and Ritz crackers. "][/caption]
