Catching Up

I feel like we've been running 90mph this past week! We got back home last Sunday, and then the kids got sick, and then I started washing like three loads of laundry a day, and then Ian recruited me to work on all the technical stuff for the Beyond Seminar event we're doing (I'll explain that in this blog), and then I decided to go through the kids' clothes and consign winter clothes and buy summer clothes, blah, blah, blah... I think you get the idea! Needless to say, I've felt stretched! But thankfully, the Lord provided me with His strength, and I feel that we weathered our first double-sickness pretty well!

Now I'll catch you up on a few things I've wanted to actually blog about but haven't had the chance!

Sickness: Thankfully, I think the kids are doing much better. Strangers may not think so because their coughs are still atrocious and their noses are still runny. According to the doctor though, they are no longer contagious. (Other parents may disagree though.) But as you can see from the photo below, today was the first day that they BOTH seemed to be feeling 100%. Cayman was polite yesterday and today, and though he still pitched fits, he was no longer "zombie man" and actually spoke back to us when we talked to him. He also ran around today for the first time, but I did notice that he couldn't run for very long because he was out of breath. It will take them a while to REALLY get back to normal. We're thankful though to have our kiddos back - fits and all!

Beyond Seminar Leaders Summit: While we were in Augusta, Ian went to San Antonio for Chick-fil-A's Operator's Seminar. Now that all the operators (and specially invited guests...like Ian) are back in their stores, they have been encouraged to put on a smaller scale seminar for their stores' leaderships teams. So Ian has been meeting with the other local operators, and they have all worked very hard to put together their "Beyond Seminar Leaders Summit." All of the operator's spouses have been invited to help. So this Sunday, we will spend all afternoon at a church about 45 minutes away putting on this event. I'm so excited that I finally get to be apart of something "Chick-fil-A," and that I'll get to meet the other operator's wives and spend time with the other IM's wives! (We've kind of had a time figuring out what to do with the kiddos. But the men decided today that the IMs can bring their kids along, and one of the wives will be in charge of childcare...or my guess is we'll take turns watching the kids in the church's nursery.)

Cayman's Head: Even though the kids are getting better from RSV, we had to go back to the doctor today (another $25 :() because last week I noticed a knot on Cayman's head. We had just finished eating dinner the day of the kids' last doctor's appointment, and I just happened to run my hand over Cayman's head and felt a knot on his scalp. I examined it and saw that it had a little scab on it. I kept checking it over the next couple of days, thinking that it would go away. It never did. So today, I couldn't stand it anymore! I broke down and called the doctor. It hadn't gotten bigger, but it was no smaller either. They wanted to check it out, just to be on the safe side. While I was talking to her about it, the doctor thought that it was possibly his lymph nodes (lymph nodes are all over kids' heads...who knew?!), swollen still from his virus. After she examined it, she determined that it wasn't his lymph nodes, and that he apparently had some type of "trauma" to his head that was taking longer than normal to heal. We're supposed to keep a close eye on it, and if it gets any larger, we need to call immediately. We are also giving it two weeks to completely go away. If it's still there, I guess we'd take him back to the doctor! I'm praying that it's nothing and will go away soon!

Summer's Here!: As you can see from yesterday's pictures, it is definitely warm down here again! (Hence needing to buy summer clothes for the kiddos!) The kids LOVED the pool yesterday. Charis just kept crawling right in, until the water was hitting her in the face! (She didn't quite get the idea that the water was getting deeper the more she crawled!) We didn't go to church yesterday since Cayman had run a fever the day before. So we had the whole day to spend however we wanted to as a family! We played outside, then I left for a while and left Ian on Daddy-duty, and then after nap, we went to the pool. It was a great day.

We went to Chick-fil-A for the first time today since we've been back in town. And the kids enjoyed their food (Charis definitely out-ate Cayman...by far!!!!) and then they had fun playing in the play area together!
