Good Ol' Lake Park (church...not park...)

I figured I'd clarify which Lake Park I was talking about since there's also a "Lakes Park" that I have blogged about pretty often in the past couple of months.

Lake Park Baptist Church is my "home" church - the one where I grew up, was baptized, where we got married, where my parents got married, where one of my brothers got married, the one my grandfather started sixty years ago...lots of history there for me. It's like a family reunion every time I go back because some of those people have been my church family since I was born!

Cayman had quite an eventful day there. We actually got there early enough for Sunday school, and my mom was on the schedule to keep the nursery during that time. So Cayman and Charis went to the nursery with her and two other babies that were born within 2 weeks of Charis. They had a ball in there playing! I don't know that Charis has been that active and playful since we've been here! (Ok, maybe here at Grammy's house when Uncle Scott is no where around and we're not having 40 people over all at once...maybe then she's been as playful and happy.) After Sunday school, Cayman went with me to the service because my mom does something special with the kids every Sunday, and if the grandkids are in town, she likes for them to come down front when she does the children's sermon. He loved sitting on the end of the pew so he could see Big Al and Grammy up in the choir loft. He waved to them, and I had to keep him from screaming hello to them a number of times! He wanted to hold his own hymnal during the first hymn. He flipped through the pages, moved his words to the music, watched everyone singing... Well, he saw me close my hymnal, so he decided it was time to put his away. Of course he had to do it all by himself because he is so independent now. So just as the song was ending, Cayman leaned over to slide the hymnal back in its slot, when all of a sudden he lost his balance, dropped the hymnal, fell forward, konked his head on the pew in front of us, and fell flat on the floor in between the two pews. Of course he started wailing, just as the music was ending. I quickly picked him up and carried him out just as he let out one of his high-pitched screams! Everyone of course was staring at us as we fled the sanctuary. He survived, thankfully, :), with an egg on his head as proof of the fall.

We went back to church tonight for a Valentine's Day banquet, and as soon as we walked in, the sweet woman, Mrs. Linda, who was sitting on the pew in front of us during the service, gave Cayman "Toy Story 3" because she just felt horrible that he had gotten hurt during church! So she was hoping the movie, which is a Moody favorite by the way, would help him feel better! I was surprised, to say the least, at her sweet thoughtfulness!

We enjoyed the day, and Cayman enjoyed all the special sweet treats (RARITY for him) he got tonight at church.
