Eyedrops...

I've never been very good with taking medicine. Growing up, I remember pouring many doses of medicine down the drain...especially cough medicine. NASTY. (Yes, mom, it's true!) To this day, I choose medicines in pill form over syrups/liquids every time. I even ask for a pill form of a prescription if it's available! Well today I learned I'm no good with eyedrops either!

I woke up this morning with bloodshot eyes (good enough transition for you, Mom? She made fun of yesterday's blog because of its lack of transitions...) and my sister-in-law Allison had polled her friends on Facebook and they all agreed that the entire family should be on pink eye medication since it's so contagious. So since I woke up with it...or the start of it...this morning, I called the doctor we went to yesterday to see if they'd help us out at all. They called in prescriptions for mom, Cayman and me also! Cayman was a champ with his doses of eye drops. He got M&Ms for his bravery. Grammy went first to show Cayman what we were going to do to him, so she had to get M&Ms too. Cayman laid right there, opened his eyes up really wide (his mouth too, because he can't open his eyes really wide unless his mouth is open really wide too!), I held them open and squeezed two drops in. Just like that. I was highly impressed! He didn't even need Boo for his procedure. Then it was my turn. I haven't had eye drops in, seriously, 16-17 years. So I laid down while mom held my eyes open. She got one drop in, and then the tears started flowing! Immediately! And then we started laughing. And then I couldn't keep my eyes opened because I was laughing. And then we got even more tickled because Cayman was pounding on my belly and my eyes were closed so I couldn't brace for his punches. As you can see, it was not a very successful dose! Well, later on in the night, when it was time for the second dose, Cayman laid right down on the couch and received his drops like a champ! Grammy held his hand while I did everything else. So when it was my turn, Cayman grabbed my hand when I laid down on the couch. We were a little more successful this time around, but by the end of the "procedure" I realized I had been squeezing the mess out of Cayman's little hand! Poor guy. Then he kept telling me it was time for me to get my M&Ms. But really, he just wanted me to get my M&Ms so he could eat them! Sneaky, sneaky...

The rest of our day was spent out running errands! Mom had to get her drivers license renewed. So the kids and I dropped her off, then drove around the corner to peek in at my favorite consignment shop! They were having a sale on the shoes - BOGO free! So I snagged CPM a couple of new pairs...she's outgrown one pair, the other pair can't seem to stay on her feet, and the third pair is, um, well-loved! Of course we got the kids, mainly Charis, some other things too. Actually, Cayman got a really neat, but very loud, motorized car...he's big into things that move on their own right now... But he mainly just had fun trying out all the toys at the consignment shop.

I finally got my Mexican food for lunch!! And I'm happy to announce that both kids are big fans of it also!

Cayman asks for lemons at every restaurant - he loves them (he didn't eat them today though nor do we ever let him eat that many lemon slices!)"][/caption]

For supper, our family friends, Mr. Bill and Mrs. Charlene surprised me with some of Mr. Bill's prized homemade lasagna! Seriously - the best stuff ever!!! As he walked in carrying his 20lb lasagna, he joked about knowing the way to my heart! I am a fan of food, I am not going to lie! One look at my waistline and you will see the truth! But. Food isn't necessarily the way to my heart. Serving me with your time, talents and money...now THAT'S the way to my heart! I sure do love the Knippenbergs!! :)
