Catching Up

So yesterday wasn't a very fair post. I didn't blog about yesterday's events...but I did post a blog and pictures, so I'm still on track for my pictures/blog everyday for a year! Less than a month until I reach my goal!

I had said that yesterday was going to my day for doing nothing! I did sleep in (until 9:30ish), but when I woke up, mom was getting ready to take the kids outside, so I decided to join them. Once we got out there, I'm not quite sure what got into me, but I had the urge to rake the whole front yard! I haven't raked in years! Needless to say, I got a good workout! Cayman enjoyed riding in the wheelbarrow, and Charis, well, Charis still likes to eat the grass and pinestraw. She definitely does not have an issue crawling on the grass. I remember when Cayman was her age, he was not a fan of the grass. He avoided it. She goes straight toward it! My daddy put up the swing in the tree yesterday morning, so the kids enjoyed trying that out! Charis LOVES to swing. She had a great time.

My cousin Joni was in town from Columbia, so she and her three boys came over for a visit. Levi was born two days before Charis, and this was the first time we've been able to get the two of them together. He is so, so adorable! With the most gorgeous blue eyes! And Haddon and Josiah loved playing with Cayman and Charis. It was a fun afternoon playdate.

That night one of my very good friends, Christa, came over once she got off work. She ended up staying over here for 3 hours while we chatted and caught up! She was one of the bridesmaids in our wedding, but it's been so long since we've been able to sit down and catch up with one another. It was so fun seeing her.

My aunt invited us to go to their church today, and I loved it! During the service, I couldn't help but think what an amazing family I have. What a legacy my grandparents have! My cousin Stephen is the worship leader at their church. He also does all of the graphics for the church (and he is absolutely A-MAZING at it. Seriously. Highly impressed by his work.) Two other cousins play instruments for the worship team. My cousin's wife sings on the worship team. My aunt is the nursery coordinator/director (I'm not sure of the official title, but she's in charge of anything having to do with infants-three year olds.) My uncle is heavily involved in the church also. Two other aunts (and their families) are heavily involved in their church. My mom and another sister are heavily involved at Lake Park. Another cousin helps lead worship at another church in town. Another cousin is a youth minister... I could go on and on! I just think it's so amazing to have a family that, for the most part, is fully dedicated to the Lord. I love it.

Anyways...following the service, we all went out to eat for Mexican! Mom and Dad met us there once they got out of church. Charis fell asleep during lunch, so then she was rearing to go once we all got home from the restaurant and were all ready for naps. Cayman had a hard time going to sleep because he was just over stimulated and fully exhausted. So he ended up throwing a major fit, and eventually ended up in the shower to help calm him down.

Now I'm getting ready for our day trip tomorrow! The kids and I are driving to Charlotte, and I can't wait! We'll get to see Nana, Mimi, Paw Paw, Uncle Seth and his crew, AND my best friends Jennifer and Stacy are driving from Raleigh to spend the day with us also! (With Sadie and Cooper of course...) I am so excited about seeing everyone. I think it will be a lot of fun! You KNOW I will have a TON of pictures tomorrow night! (Maybe they'll make it on the blog tomorrow night...if not then, they'll definitely be up the next day!)

In other news...

Ian arrived in San Antonio, Texas this morning for the Chick-fil-A "Built to Last" Operator's Seminar. He was one of twenty special guests invited to seminar. Seminar is a time for all operators and their wives to get together and be rejuvenated and treated to a special weeklong retreat/conference. They have different breakout sessions for the operators and guests to go to, they have special entertainment (this year it's Third Day and Tim Hawkins), and they always have tremendous guest speakers. Ian was so excited when he received a phone call from someone at corporate inviting him to go. He received a lot of encouragement today from different people he has met along his Chick-fil-A journey, and I could not be more proud or excited for my deserving hubby! I can't wait to hear all about the conversations he gets to have and all the people he'll get to meet. And, most of all, I can't wait to go with him to next year's seminar!!
