Vacation Posts

Day 7 - June 10 - Friday

Our final day in "Oyando!" We decided to spend our final day of vacation doing that the kids loved best - swimming together at the pool! The men went out for one more round of golf. My kids love swimming in a 0-depth pool. Being able to walk right out is so good for them. Charis isn't a big fan of her float because she loves being independent. However, she's a bit too independent in the water and doesn't realize that when she walks out a little too deep and falls, she ends up under the water. We were constantly jumping up from our comfy seats in the pool to snatch her out of the water. She never cried or acted scared - in fact she laughed most of the time. I need to just go ahead and teach her to swim so we don't have to be so worried about her in the water.

After our last dinner together, everyone (but my dad) decided to head to this little amusement park that had a lot of go-kart tracks, fair rides, and kiddie rides. After a long hour (maybe a little less) trying to find the place, we finally got there. I bought Cayman 5 tickets for rides - he rode the train, the hopper (which terrified him...video to come), the semi trucks, then back to the train, and then we saved his final ticket for a ride with his cousins. The cousins soon joined us at the kiddie ride area, and the first ride they wanted to get on was the hopper. This ride was supposed to resemble a frog - the seats traveled up a tower, and once it got to the top, it dropped a short distance, and then hopped up and down. The first time terrified Cayman and he cried the whole time. The second time, you could tell he was terrified, but he heard his cousins squealing and having fun, so he tried to act brave like them. He did smile some of the ride the second time around! While the kids were off riding rides, the big boys all raced each other on go-karts! They ended up staying at the amusement park (with Kathy and Graysan - Graysan had unlimited rides) and raced each other on the go karts. Me and my kids, Allison and her kids, and Grammy left early (early as in 9:15) and decided to go to Sonic and get icecream. We ate our icecream outside at the tables, and then we started making our way home. An hour after leaving Sonic, after getting stuck in traffic, getting turned around on I-4, and getting passed by the others who stayed at the amusement park, we finally made it home at 11:00!

I'm sure we all assumed we would have been home MUCH earlier than that. Especially considering what a long day of traveling we were to have the following day, and all the packing that needed to get finished! But, the kids had fun, the big boys had fun, the women...well, they had a little bit of fun! :) Only kidding. A great time was had by all, and it was a fun end to our vacation!

Prior to the ride...he had no idea what he was in for!!

Group picture -- but Charis was scared they were going to make her ride the Hopper!
