I started with an old window. I had to clean it "WHEELY" good as my little boy would say, as the window had been propped out on my dad's deck for who knows how long, collecting dirt, cobwebs and who knows what else. I also started with one of my favorite little girl bedroom designs, which you can find here at Target's website. Once I figure out what exactly we're doing for Charis as far as crib bedding goes (she's kind of past the "I-need-a-crib-bumper-stage" but not quite to the "I-need-all-big-girl-bedding-stage") I want to purchase some of this set! I love it all!
I then combed the racks at Michael's looking for fun, coordinating scrapbook papers which I could use to make my owls. (I used a blown up, cropped picture printed from Target's website to create a template for each owl.)
Next I adhered my birds and branches (also made from the scrapbook paper) to the front of the window panes using Mod Podge. Very messy, but definitely got the job done much better than Gorilla Glue!
I finally added a backdrop. I used the Mod Podge again to glue some of the leftover paper scraps to a thick piece of foam board (or some old scrap of something my dad had in his art desk! This project is all about recycling!) I then used a staple gun to secure the backdrop to the window.
I really love how it turned out. But I definitely cannot wait to see it hung in my baby girl's room!
In other news... We are going out tomorrow to celebrate Cayman being potty trained! Bounce houses, here we come!!! :)

Thats so cute:) I didn't know target had this too! Check out tiny tilla:) they are avon's new baby line...I so thought thats what ur owls came from when I first saw it!
ReplyDeleteYou are SO talented. The owl window is just precious. My only suggestion is that you MAY want to go ahead and buy some of that Target stuff (I know, where will you put it when you move....again?) because things that you have your heart set on tend to get discontinued!!!
