Grammy and Big Al's House

We have done many things at Grammy and Big Al's house during our first week here! Here are some of the key points...

We've been spending lots of time in the bathroom with Cayman. He has been doing GREAT with the potty. He even went to church and a restaurant today in UNDERWEAR and had no accidents! Of course we take M&Ms with us everywhere. Last night he even came and told me he had to go poopy, and off we went, where he truly performed and made his Daddy proud with a true "man poop." He is such a clown and has seriously been Mr. Entertainer. His antics at the supper table are hilarious (as long as he is eating and behaving.) He has started making silly faces at really random times - he does weird things with his mouth and eyes...well, I won't even try to explain it - I'll just try to capture a photo (whenever I locate my camera charger...*sigh...*)

We also spend lots of time outside since Big Al and Grammy have 2 great yards and plenty of grass and activities. The mosquitoes are pretty bad though, so we all get doused with bug spray as soon as we leave the front porch. Cayman and Charis quickly discovered the sprinkler and both love it. Big Al and Grammy also have a large, inflatable rectangular size pool that they put in the backyard. Cayman loves it and pretends to swim underwater (walking on his hands on the bottom of the pool.) Charis, in true Charis fashion, walks and slips in the pool and we have to scoop her up so she's not underwater too long. We have to let some of the water out because even if it's halfway full, it's too deep for her! Last night, I took Cayman out to swim by himself for a little while before supper. As I was putting his sunscreen on him, I noticed that he was pinching and pulling his nipples. I asked him what he was doing. He said, "I just trying to take them off." I said, "Buddy, you can't pull those off of your body." He asked, "Why?" (ahh....the lovely 2 year old "why stage" -- Cayman and Ian had a conversation this morning that lasted entirely too long thanks to this lovely word....) I said, "Well, God put them on your body for a reason, and when you get to heaven one day, you'll have to ask Him why."

Cayman has also gotten to help Big Al clean up the yard. One night after supper, Cayman went outside in his shorts and shoes - just like a man - and went right to work...picking up pine cones with his wheel barrow, raking, etc. And then he got to ride the riding lawn mower with Big Al. Unfortunately, despite being doused with bug spray, he ended up with 5 MASSIVE bites on his back and two on his cheek (I swear he's slightly allergic or something because his bite marks get so swollen -- larger than quarters...one night he got one on his ankle, and his ankle swelled so bad that I had to give him 3 doses of benadryl...throughout the night - not all at once...and he held an ice pack on his ankle for a good 30 minutes.)

We also went up to the lake one day. My parents have a neat place on Thurmond Lake - about 45 minutes from their house in Augusta. Ian and I went up there to have a quiet, relaxing evening before he left for FRL. We packed the Camry with all of his stuff, drove up there last Sunday night around supper time, ate in the car, hopped in our bathing suits after arriving and stayed out there til it got dark. It was great! Free night of vacation...can't beat it! Mom met me up there with the kids the next morning, and we stayed until naptime. Cayman loved throwing rocks, and Charis loved playing in the sand. She only tried to eat it once! Cayman was amazed at all the (annoying) minnows swimming near us. :)

I have been doing a lot of organizing - mainly with our clothes...trying to find or make places for our clothes in my parents' house. My brother is sharing his closet with me. He had some seasonal clothes in a dresser in my room that I just put in a plastic bin so I could have some drawer space. I had to be a little more creative with the kids' clothes. I did consign some of them -- Charis especially just had way too many clothes. But I found the BEST organizational tool at Walmart, especially for when you're short on drawer space. I bought two hanging mesh shelves. And they only cost around $7 each! So all of Cayman's shirts are hanging in a closet in his room, and his shorts and pajamas are in his hanging shelf thing. Charis' clothes are in the toy closet. It worked out perfectly. I have also gone through their toys to pick and choose what I truly want them to have. I tried to consign them, but the store wasn't able to take most of it. So I'll give them to my parents' church or a thrift store. I also went through mine and Ian's winter clothes that we have here to see if there was anything in that big bin that we could part ways with. (Ian better come home and claim what he wants because I'm in a toss it out mood!!!!) :)

Now...if I could only put my hands on my camera charger..... :( Enjoy the pictures I've taken this week on my phone!
