We're Still Alive...

I haven't posted anything in a while, so I thought I'd give you a little update. Things have been a little crazy this week...I learned on Monday that I had already started progressing towards delivery. On Monday, I was 1cm dilated and on Thursday I was already 2cm and the baby had dropped lower than it was on Monday. (Usually I wouldn't go to the doctor twice in one week, but the other aspect of our crazy week has been some stuff going on at CFA, and if I were really progressing quickly, Ian needed to know so he could call in reinforcements at the store in his absence. So I called to see if they could check me at the doctor's office to see what was going on. Thankfully, we didn't need to take drastic measures.) Last night, I was up for about 3 hours having horrible back pain and contractions, and I just knew it was time! Obviously that wasn't the case, and here I sit, with a bowling ball still in between my legs just waiting to drop out. It's still a little early for Baby C's arrival - my official due date is Nov. 20. I highly doubt I'll make it that long (and I'm not gonna lie - I've been doing lots of things to try to bring on labor. I'm done being pregnant.) :)

Unfortunately, we're also facing a hurricane heading right our way this weekend. I don't really feel adequately prepared (as far as having batteries, flashlights, extra bread, water, etc.) but I can't really go out to the store by myself with the kids. As bad as I want to go into full labor, I'm terrified of my water breaking in public (even though my water has never broken on its own! haha!) and pushing the kids in the cart is...well...just absurd at this point. So. We'll make do with what we have unless Ian comes home in time for me to give him a list! The outside of our house has been storm-proofed (as much as possible) - Ian tied down the grill and large patio table out on the deck, the chairs have been stored under the deck, our porch swing has been taken down and stored in the garage along with our planter boxes and other outdoor items. Our biggest fear is flooding as we are right on the river and are in a low lying area that floods with a typical heavy thunderstorm. We're praying that the Lord will protect our new home from damage, and that if I do go into labor, we can safely make it to the hospital and our friends can make it to our home to take care of the kids!

I do have pictures on the camera that need to be uploaded to the computer, especially before Baby C comes! However, the camera is downstairs, I am upstairs, and I'm ready for my nap to make up for the lack of sleep I received last night... Pictures of the kids in their first parade and our nature scavenger hunt for our science lesson yesterday will have to wait!
