For some time now, Ian and I have talked about how we're going to get Charis to stop needing her paci (she calls it her Pie Pie) to sleep. I've tried a couple of times to take it away to no avail. Well this afternoon, before nap time, Charis couldn't find her paci. She lost it somewhere downstairs (which is unusual because normally Pie Pie HAS to stay in her bed...after a very pleasant morning, however, I gave in and let the kids watch a TV show before naptime with all their bedtime lovies), and I told her that she had to find it before she went to bed. She looked downstairs for all of two minutes and came walking up the stairs. "Well, I can't find it. I guess I will have to sleep without it." This happened around 1:30. At 4pm, 2.5 long hours later......... she had finally fallen asleep. She played for a long time in her room...read her books, played with her babies, read more books, etc. etc. It wasn't the most pleasant afternoon, but I was very, very excited when I looked in her bedroom around 4 and saw this beautiful sight!
When she woke up from her nap, I told her the story about the Paci Fairy. We needed to write a letter to the Paci Fairy so that she would know that Charis is all done with her Pie Pie. Then before she goes to bed, Charis will put the letter in the mailbox, and the Paci Fairy will replace the letter with a present for Charis. We shall see how tonight's bed time goes without Pie Pie. Hopefully Ian will be home to help me out a little.
