Sunday night, we drove to Charlotte so we could spend time with Ian's family for Christmas. We stayed at Mena and Poppy's house, and Cayman and Charis slept in the same bed for the first time...kind of. They didn't fall asleep together, which is the worst part of the battle, but they did sleep all night together without waking one another up. And, Charis was up and out of bed a full hour before Cayman. So that's good that she doesn't wake him up as soon as she wakes up. Or maybe he's just like his mama and likes all the sleep he can get in the morning! We went to Uncle Seth and Aunt Leslie's house Monday morning - Callie met them all for the first time! Anna and Leslie, especially, loved fighting over holding her. :) It took Cayman and Charis a few minutes to remember everyone, but once they warmed up, they had a blast playing with Ryan. We exchanged gifts, and then it was off to Nakato's!
Every Christmas Eve, Bonnie and Gary treat everyone to a yummy Japanese steakhouse dinner for Christmas. The Seth Moodys and the Ian Moodys met Mena, Poppy, Brandy and Otis and their family, as well as Gary's sister Lisa and her family at the restaurant for a late lunch. We enjoyed a yummy lunch and good conversation! Of course, we had to take pictures together since the last time we took a large family picture was Cayman's first Christmas! Then most of us went back to Mena and Poppy's house to read the Christmas story from the book of Luke and exchange gifts. We had so much fun, and Cayman, especially, was so expressive about opening all of his gifts! I'm so glad, because earlier in the year, we had some issues with him receiving gifts and not showing thankfulness or excitement.
We left Charlotte a little later than we anticipated, but the time we got to spend with our family was definitely worth the late night drive. Ian and I ended up staying up until after 3 am doing our "elf work" before Christmas morning!
