One night we decided to make some gingerbread creations. The girls "worked" together and the boys "worked" together. I use that word lightly because we quickly realized gingerbread houses/trains are difficult for kids to help with. They're pretty difficult to assemble (as you'll see in the pictures below...) About half way through making the house, Callie started crying and needed to be fed. Charis started eating all the icing. The side of the house fell down (for the umpteenth time). The Christmas tree wouldn't stand up alone without falling over. Let's just say: Charis and I gave up! Well, she didn't give up on eating the icing. But I gave up on making the gingerbread house. Our house is in the trashcan.
The boys on the other hand, created a cool gingerbread train. Cayman may have had to remind Ian quite a few times that he was supposed to let Cayman help him...perfectionist Ian had a bit of a hard time handing over the reins. But he did! And Cayman had fun helping. :) And of course, the sides of their train DID NOT fall over repeatedly. And they get to showcase their work on our bar. Boys win the gingerbread creation contest this year. And this year only. We'll have to figure out a new "tradition" for next year. Haha!
