Charis' Eating Habits

I still haven't figured out what the deal is with Charis. She eats OK sometimes, and refuses to eat other times. She also doesn't seem to be nearly as interested in her formula. We've been having a hard time with her around midnight each night. Her nose is still runny, and last night, she started crying (so to avoid making her nose even more runny) I went in there to suction her nose and give her saline drops. While I was holding her she started choking on/throwing up this super thick mucousy stuff. I felt so awful for her. So once she calmed down from that, I laid her back in bed, but she wouldn't go back to sleep without a little bottle. Ugh.

I AM SO TIRED OF MY CHILDREN WAKING ME UP IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SLEEP.

There, I've said it, and I feel a little better. (Until midnight tonight when one of them wakes me up again.) I am a horrible sleeper myself, so when I get woken up, it takes me a good 45 minutes to an hour to get back to sleep sometimes!

The doctor said to let her cry it out (check on her in 10-15 minute intervals), but I have a few issues with this practice this time around (I used it on Cayman when he was about 6 months old, and it worked great.) #1. She gets super snotty, and then can't suck her passy, and throws up nasty mucousy stuff. #2. Our neighbors have complained about how loud our dining room chairs are when we pull them across the floor. What in the world would they think about our daughter screaming bloody murder in the middle of the night? #3. We have another child this time around, and I don't want her loud screaming waking him up as well.

Anyways. Crying it out just isn't really working this time around! So I've been trying to really fill her up with food during the day to make sure she's full and hopefully won't wake up at midnight!

This is her eating supper last night - yummy lasagna!

This morning she also got her first taste of whole milk!

  1. LOVE the lasagna pictures. Did she enjoy whole milk? That'll take a load off your budget, I'm sure. Take lots of pictures at her birthday party. Sure wish we could be there. :,( Have you practiced birthday cake with her like you did Cayman? I'll never forget how excited he got over his cake (or how mad he was when it was taken away). Love and miss you all.
