Virginia Beach

Sunday, we decided to take a break and do some together as a family! We spent the entire day up in Virginia. We started our day visiting somewhere new - Virginia Beach. We had never been there before, and I'm so glad we went to check it out. We ate lunch near the boardwalk, walked to a nearby "carnival" where the kids (and Ian I learned) rode a ferris wheel for the first time. The kids were a tiny nervous once we started getting up so high in the sky! But they had fun. We had a few tickets leftover so we let them ride an elephant ride (similar to the Dumbo ride at Disney.)

We also let the kids get their first caricature!

Charis loved the sand :)

Then we rented a 4-wheeled bicycle for all of us to ride along the boardwalk. It was a lot of fun! A lot of work, but fun! :) It was actually a little chilly on Sunday, especially by the beach, so the kids were all bundled up for our bike ride. We stopped at a playground right on the beach (so mom and dad could rest) and the kids had a blast exploring the huge playground. We drove our bike back down the boardwalk to Dairy Queen and got some icecream (it was way too cold for ice cream!) And then returned our bike...we lasted about an hour on the bike. With a 20 minute playground break and a 10 minute ice cream break. :)

We did a little shopping on Chesapeake on the way home, grabbed a quick bite to eat for dinner, and then headed home. We were all worn out, but we had so much fun on our day trip to Virginia!
