My Babies are Gone!

Yesterday (Tuesday), the kids and I left early to meet my mom and Aunt Judy in Lumberton, NC. Since I'm going to Augusta for Thanksgiving next week, Mom and Dad asked if they could get the kids a week early. (Yes, I promise - they ASKED FOR IT. Ok, wait. My mom asked for it. But my dad went along with it!) My parents are the best. However, not only do they have my two kids. They're also invited my niece Harper to come stay for the week. I believe that Cayman is in heaven. Not only is he at Grammy's house (she has all the BEST toys, including a motorcycle, dirt, a fish pond, and a whole room upstairs dedicated to just toys!) but he has a playmate his size/age for the whole week! (Charis just gets a little boring sometimes...) I think/hope Cayman and Harper are playing well together!

As soon as we got to Zaxby's in Lumberton, and Cayman gave Harper a big hug, it was like they were instant best friends again. They sat beside each other at lunch and giggled so hard while saying silly things like "Hello little lion!" "Hello little table!" It was really funny to watch. I guess you had to be there. They were in their own little world. So cute.

We switched vehicles, and I drove home in the compact, quiet, car...all alone... I'm not gonna lie. It was rather nice. I got to listen to my music instead of the Backyardigans DVD or the Veggietales CD. I was able to talk people without screaming children in the background. And, I was able to stop at the outlets and do some Christmas shopping ALONE. I'm sure by tomorrow or Friday, I will be longing for my babies. But I'm convinced: time away from your loved ones is healthy! I've said it before - time away (at least for me) truly makes my heart grow fonder of my loved ones.

Oh yeah, I left out one other little story from our trip. As soon as we get in the van and finish our yummy Chick-fil-A breakfast, Cayman says, "Mama, when will we have another little sister?" Ohh dear.... I told Ian, and his response was: "Good question, Cayman." Yikes! I'm being double-teamed! At least Charis isn't ready to have a little sibling yet. She told me so two days ago. I'm pretty sure her exact words were: "Mom, I'm not quite ready to have a little sibling yet. I'm just beginning to learn so many great things about this world. I'm really enjoying life as a family of four. I just don't think we need to bring a fifth member into our family just yet." Well said, my daughter. Well said.

Acting silly at lunch!
