Chick-fil-A Picnic

We planned a picnic/family fun day a LONG time ago, but it just so happened to fall on our final weekend down here with our store! Bittersweet, for sure! We had such a fun time out at Jim Jeffers Park today! Not as many people showed up as signed up (which, hello, is completely normal these days!) but I think we had the perfect amount of people there. My kiddos held up tremendously, despite the heat in the middle of the day. We got there around 11 and didn't leave until 2:45! Charis (who, by the way, played the entire time in the nursery last night instead of crying the whole time!!!!) found a friend in Mrs. Hazel, who took Charis to the playground, and was pretty much my second set of eyes out there today! She was such a huge help, and if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have gotten to do any of the fun stuff! Cayman has turned into quite a little athlete in the past few weeks! I am seriously impressed with some of his skills. He has taken to baseball (he can already hit the ball like a champ....big bat and larger inflatable baseball), hockey (our new neighbors with the two boys Cayman's age cut down an extra hockey stick for Cayman - we didn't even have to show him how to hold it!), and today, I saw his soccer skills! He had a blast running all over the huge grassy fields, kicking the soccer ball while running full speed, and not once did he get tripped up or fall! Of course I never got the chance to video tape him, but I will soon. Ian and I played a couple of the guys in basketball (oh yeah, I've still got it after "all these years!") Ian grilled burgers and hotdogs for everyone. Lili (marketing director) brought us a gorgeous "congratulations" cake that had our family picture on it from the Buccaneer Breakfast day. Then we played a big game of kickball! I haven't played kickball in so long, and it was so much fun! We all had a blast. Even Cayman took a turn kicking the ball!

Charis only snuck off once...right as I was packing all of our stuff to leave. It was one of those times where I looked one time and she was playing with the basketball in the grass, I turned around to gather more of our items, and when I turned back around, she was GONE. No where to be seen. Talk about your heart dropping... Everyone jumped up from the picnic tables and scattered, searching for Charis. Ian found her a minute or two later......... PLAYING IN THE MEN'S URINALS........ G-A-G ME!!! Better than one of the alternatives though....

This is what Charis was doing when I went in her room during naptime following the picnic to tell her to go to sleep. I caught her trying to do a flip in her bed. No wonder she wasn't sleeping! :)

This boy loves him some cake!!
