GO Week - Dedication Dinner

Here's day one of our Grand Opening week!

It started off with a visit from Grandma and Papa (Ian's grandparents). They were invited especially for the dedication dinner tonight because Ian chose Papa (as his spiritual mentor) to dedicate the store to the Lord (which is the whole point of a dedication dinner, a tradition started by Truett Cathy from the very beginning!) This was the first time that Papa and Grandma have seen Charis in person, and they haven't seen Cayman since he was around 6 months old! Hard to believe!! By the VERY end of the night, Papa finally got a chance to hold Charis (it takes her a little while to warm up to people.) Soon after Papa and Grandma arrived this morning, Mena (Ian's mom) and Uncle Seth (Ian's brother) arrived. They stayed for a little while and then decided to drive to the OBX while there was a break in the clouds! I do not blame them one bit! It has been raining here for close to two weeks! We had a lot of fun catching up with them and watching the kids play.

Dedication Dinner was such a special evening. And how amazing to know that all of those people (215+) were there to support my husband!!! Tonight's dinner was for our family, our new employees (and their guests), and the large team that has come from all over the country to assist with the grand opening. There were also some operators in attendance, including Ian's operator from Raleigh. It was very nice to see Chris and his wife Karen again and spend the evening with them. After all. We most likely would not be where we are today if not for them! Chris is the one that encouraged Ian to look into becoming an operator. Well, the rest is history I suppose!

I wish I could go into every single detail of the event, but I'll just say that it was so special to be the guests of honor at such a huge dinner party! Our kids were the ones making some noises and yes, we had to keep getting up with them (well, the grandmas did most of that), and yes, we were at a location in the room where we had to walk up the center aisle in front of whoever was speaking anytime the kids wandered away or started making noise! A little embarrassing, but then I kept telling myself that this evening was not about us or our children (and they were rather cute anyways...) What an amazing night! We had such a great time...SUCH a great time.

Did I mention that my amazing oldest brother, Clark, his wife, Kathy, and my
niece Graysan also took time out of their busy schedules
to celebrate with us? We are so loved!
