What We've Been Up To...

We have been having fun in our new home! Here are a few pictures of what we've been up to recently.

We love having the neighborhood park so close to us. If we choose to walk (which is getting a little tougher on Mama these days...makes me have to go potty a little too often!) we simply walk out our back door, through our back gate, down two houses, and there we are at the playground! There's a pond right near the playground too. A sign says "Swim at Your Own Risk," but I'm not too sure I'll ever be swimming in that pond. :) Cayman and Charis sure want to though because there's a dock that would be perfect for jumping off of!

We have also been making purchases here and there for the house. I finally "allowed" Ian to get his surround sound that he's always (ALWAYS) wanted. I thought it would be wiser to wait until we actually had a home to put the surround sound in, instead of an apartment or house that wasn't really ours! So we got it. And then almost immediately, the little remote that's used to turn the surround sound system on disappeared! We looked EVERYWHERE last night for it after the kids went to bed. Completely tore the couch apart searching for it. We eventually gave up, assuming the kids had thrown it down one of the air vents or some other random spot that only they can find. This morning I asked Cayman about it, and he said, "Yeah, Charis gave it to me. But it didn't work on the TV. So I put it on my tool bench and then in my pocket." "Which pocket?" "Um, the dark shorts." ??? Low and behold, the shorts he chose to wear this morning, that I had just taken out of the washing machine LAST NIGHT were the shorts that held the missing remote. Yes, it had gone through the washing machine and dryer. :( Thankfully, it still seems to work. For now. We also purchased this rug last night to go under our new dining room furniture which will be here next week! We have never had official "dining room" furniture, so we are so excited that now when we have company, we can have more than one other couple at a time! (Actually, we can have more company right now; we just all have to sit outside on the deck at that table to eat!) Ian sent me about 6 pictures and told me to number them in my order of favorites. Then once he had my opinion, he was going to choose the final choice. (I had just said, "Surprise me!" because I trust his judgment more than mine sometimes!!) But as it turns out, we both liked the same one, so this is what we have! (All the curtains in the house came with the house when we purchased - that was a nice perk!)

We've been plugging away at school... Still not as dreamy as I expected. I am definitely having to come up with different ways to teach Cayman -- he learns a lot differently than me, which means I'm out of my comfort zone as far as teaching goes. Charis, on the other hand, learns the same way as me, so it's much easier to teach her things! But that's ok. We'll get there. I just need to create some learning games so that I can teach what I need to teach and make Cayman think we're just playing games during school. I did find another activity that he seems to enjoy quite a bit!
