We have the greatest team in the world! For Christmas this year, they gave us an overnight stay at the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. On top of that, an employee gave us an additional night's stay that her family was going to be unable to use before the expiration date. So we got to stay from Sunday to Tuesday free of charge. We had a BLAST. There was so much for the kids to do - the indoor waterpark, a miniature size bowling alley, storytime before bed each night as well as a show at the clock tower, an arcade, an ice cream shop, etc. The room the team chose for us was a Kids Kamp theme. The kids had their own room within our hotel room that was decorated to make it seem like they were sleeping in a tent. They slept in bunk beds (Charis slept in a real bed for the first time and did GREAT) and had their own TV in their room with a game system controller attached to it (which didn't turn out to be nearly as exciting as Cayman thought since mama and daddy refused to pay $6.95 for 60 minutes to let him pretend to play some games). At first I was a little nervous about the sleeping situation, but the bunk beds weren't like your typical bunk beds. Each one was basically enclosed (or had a long board attached to the bedside) so that it was almost impossible for the kids to fall out of bed. Charis probably felt like she was still sleeping in a crib since she couldn't have gotten down if she wanted to!
They also loved going to the waterpark everyday. It was a little chilly once you got out of the water, even though the thermostat was supposedly set at 84 degrees. The kiddie pool water was the coldest of any of the pools! Poor Charis shivered and had purple lips a majority of the time - until we'd go warm up in the hot tub! She loved doing the slides in the kiddie pool - she would climb up those steps and sit down at the stop of the slide and scoot her little hiney to the edge and off she'd go! "Again! Again!" Over and over... She was not a fan, however, of the big slides that they were allowed to go on with us. But we wanted to do stuff together so that no one got left out, so we'd drag her along with us. Once the tube would start going though, she'd stop crying. Our favorite ride was the family raft ride - where all four of us could sit in a raft together and go down a slide that played music and was lit by colorful LED lights. Cayman asked to ride that over and over. He loved the big slides! He had a ball.
We have the best team ever! We're so thankful for this mini vacation we were given - it really couldn't have come at a better time!!
