Sweet Friends

When we left Augusta, Charis stayed behind with Grammy and Big Al! She actually ended up staying with them a little over two weeks. While I did miss my girl, I think it was a good time for all parties involved. Charis and Grammy enjoyed good, quality time together. Cayman and Charis actually started missing one another and realized that they do in fact love each other. And yes, even I enjoyed a little time away from my spirited, loud, active three year old. I had started really having a tough time with Charis. It just seemed like we were butting heads. A lot. It seems like time apart ended up working out in our favor. That and a little letting go on my part. I have realized that I was desperately trying to hold onto my beloved nap times. (Not my own personal nap time unfortunately...) Charis was desperately trying to let go of it! (Cayman gave up naps a while back and only naps on rare occasions.) When Charis wouldn't take a nap, I would get so upset! It was more stressful than beneficial. If she knew how to be quiet, I don't think I would have a hard time with her dropping her nap. But the child makes noise all the time. :) When Charis was in Augusta, we would just forget about naps and go out in the middle of the afternoon. It was so nice not to be stuck at home all afternoon. I found myself feeling much less stressed during the day because I wasn't fighting with someone to stay in her bed or to stop being so loud. Since we are back at home in our normal routine, we've adopted more of a "room time" routine instead of a "nap time" routine. We're still tweaking it. The kids like to sneak out of their rooms and into each other's...which often leads to full out brawls because they're still tired and irritable. But we're working on it. :) Oh. And I'm trying to teach Charis how to play quietly. It works...sometimes...

Anyways. On to the real point of this blog post.

When we were driving to EC from Augusta, we stopped in Durham to meet two of my best friends, Jennifer and Stacy! I finally got to meet the newest baby to our brood, Tanner. I'm so glad they changed up their plans for the day to meet us for a little while.
