Just to remind you what our kitchen and dining room looked like before...

Here they are mid-reno.

This picture and the next were my FREAKING OUT pictures that I sent
to Ian while he was at work. As in, "Oh my gosh. What in the world have
we done?!?!"

While I was painting this wall, (which was my third or fourth wall), I sent
him a text that said, "Now's probably not a good time to tell you that this
is only the second time in my life that I've painted walls, huh?" hehe

Subtle Stripes!

We started this project first because it is what I was most nervous about. He
wanted to hurry up and start before I changed my mind! :)
And here are the finished projects! We are IN LOVE with both of them!!

We also added inexpensive (but useful) under cabinet lighting and we
changed out the outlet covers. In the future we will get a professional to
install "real" under cabinet lighting. But this is perfect for now.

There are obviously a few more things we need to do, but for the most part
the kitchen is complete! And we love it!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything about the dining room! Especially the
subtle stripes we added to the main wall in the room. The entire room is
painted in flat paint. We painted 12 inch stripes in the same color paint but
in the high gloss finish to create some interest and contrast on that wall.

The lighting makes the curtains look burgundy (kind of), but they are
actually the same color brown as all the furniture.
Overall, I'd say our first remodel projects turned out well! We definitely learned a few things along the way. Neither project is perfect. But we did it alone. And we worked well together! Ian's perfectionism and my lack thereof tend to not mesh very well. But during these projects we balanced each other nicely. I can't wait for the next project!!
