Vacation Time!

This is our first full week back from our vacation. We had A BLAST!! We spent the week at Carolina Beach, NC with Ian's mom (Mena), stepdad (Poppy), brother's family (Seth, Leslie, Zachery, Anna and Ryan), my mom (Grammy), my dad (Big Al), and my brother (Scott) who surprised us all and showed up late Tuesday night. We rented a house that was across the street from the beach, but from our porches we had beautiful views because the house directly across the street was a tiny one story. It lacked a little bit of dining space/family room area for such a large group, but all the adults (except for Scott) had their own bedroom. And that's most important. :) If you're looking for a fun beach with plenty of activities for a mixed age-group, Carolina Beach is an excellent choice. I'm not a fan of Myrtle Beach because it is so huge/crowded/busy/etc. Carolina Beach had just enough to do to keep you busy, and you were always able to find a place to set up on the beach! Here were some of our favorite activities: Rounds of golf (yes, I played with my big ol' belly!), putt putt, NC Aquarium, zoo (very small), LOTS of time on the beach, fair/carnival (where we found out that Cayman is quite the dare devil and loves going on rides!), fireworks show, outdoor movie, LOTS of cornhole and bocci ball games, body surfing (I refrained...) and burying each other in the sand. Oh yeah, throw in some Farkle, Balderdash, and Poker, and you've got yourself a fun week!
