Riverbanks Zoo

Today we spent the day at Riverbanks Zoo. My cousin, Joni, lives just miles away from the zoo, so she and her three sweet boys met us there so we could spend the day together! We had so much fun! I hardly get to spend time with her, so I was so thankful that we got to do this today. I think we will definitely have to make this day trip again! My sweet Aunt Judy (one of mom's sisters) gave us three of her guest passes to the zoo along with tickets that could be used on some of the zoo's attractions. So, this trip to the zoo cost us the price of our breakfast (at Chick-fil-A OF COURSE!), a tank of gas, quarters to feed the fish and goats, and change to "race" in the donation bin for animal conservation (you know, drop the penny in the slot, and it goes round and round and round until it falls through the hole! The older boys LOVED racing and crashing their pennies!)

Our "Thank you Aunt Judy" picture!

"Fingos" - Charis

Getting the food to feed goats

They stood up on the fence to eat the food right out of your
hands! Cayman and Grammy did it together - hopefully
the hilarious video will post to Facebook! ;)

Llama (with cow at bottom of picture)

Up close and personal with the giraffes

One of zoo's attractions: Feeding the giraffes! We all tried it!

Cayman was very brave! But he didn't want
a second turn...

"Elphants!" - Charis

First of many tries.....

About as good as it gets...

Food = No Tears

She wandered down the path a bit to find this
little friend -- just her size!

We walked through the kangaroo exhibit - no fences/gates/
barriers. Just a few logs separating us from the kangaroos!

"We're locked in a cage!" - Cayman

The four of us went to the van for a picnic lunch, and after
our picnic, we reentered the zoo and rode the tram to the
Botanical Gardens!

They had a neat kids' area!

Me and my little man who is apparently terrified of being
up high.

"Thanks Aunt Judy for letting me ride the 'little train'!" - Cayman

One happy boy!!

He wanted to go back to milk the cow (he wouldn't try it
the first go around!)

"Thanks Aunt Judy for the carousel ride!" - Cayman, Charis,
and Grammy

Unbeknownst to Grammy - the zebra was one
that went up and down. Needless to say, Charis
didn't stay on the zebra for too long because
Grammy was a little too short to hold on to her
way up high!

"Just my size!"

"Dats the male lion!" - Cayman
Apparently, he WAS paying attention to one of our little mini
lessons at the VERY BEGINNING of our day!

Me and my sweet girl who was oh, so sleepy, by this point
in the day!

Sitting on the lioness (he had a hard time remembering
that female lions were called lionesses)

What a great day we had!! Thanks for going with us
Ingles! Thanks for all the tickets, Aunt Judy and Uncle O!
