Poor Baby

The Monday before we left for Augusta, Charis started acting like she was getting sick. That night at small group, she was sooo cranky, not interested in eating very much, and she felt so warm. She was also doing a couple of other things which made it seem like she may possibly have a UTI. We went to see the doctor as soon as we could get ready the next morning. The doctor suspected a UTI, but the only way to make sure was to do a catheter. I sent Ian a text letting him know to start praying for her after the doctor told me she would need one, but before the nurses came in to do it. She's had a catheter before (when we were still down in FL - when she was like six months old or something) and it was NOT a good experience. The nurses came in to start doing their thing, and as soon as the door opened Charis started crying. When they proceeded with all they needed to do, Charis started SCREAMING. Unbeknownst to me, my knight in shining armor was walking down the hall with a nurse trying to find our room. He said, "You can take me to the room of that screamer, because that's my daughter." I had already started tearing up a little bit because Charis was in so much pain and they were having trouble getting a urine sample. But when I turned around and saw him, I pretty much lost it! Charis was a little distracted to see Daddy, so she just cried instead of screamed the rest of the ordeal. As it turned out, she definitely had an infection. The doctor has called for further testing to be done on Charis. So next month, we're going to the children's hospital in Norfolk, VA for her to have an ultrasound of her kidneys as well as a BCUG (I don't even want to go into what that is...worse than the catheter though.) So after a shot of antibiotics and a round of liquid antibiotics, Charis is on the mend. She rarely shows that she's in pain (although it probably happens once a day still, but that's better as opposed to 7-8 times a day.) I'm thankful we have Christmas to distract us from thinking about the rest of the ordeal.

This was taken right after the appointment - she
asked to go to bed at 11:30 - and slept until
 3:30 or so. :(

Bubba wanted to be right near her since she
wasn't feeling too good. :(
